Hello, everyone,
I just read Dawn's post regarding the TMNT Fan Fic Awards and I noticed the
date said October 5, which is today. Has TMNT-L really been that slow
lately? Well, it's about time to get it back on the ball, starting with my
two cents....which I don't even have to begin with.
I read her entire letter from beginning to end and took her words in
stride. After what she's been through this year, the girl has
been a real trooper. She and her husband started this Fan Fic awards
and all GW and Mikey wanted to do is make it a success in her
absence. Much as I complained to Phish on NTML that I wasn't
mentioned in the 'thank yous' list, I've come to realize that I really
didn't do much help except yell a lot, fill up GW's inbox
with requested assignments (which I chose to accept, lol), and make up
ridiculous ideas for the categories. To me, I'm no expert at HTML
coding which Mikey is a true master at, nor do I have a way with words
like GW has when it comes to promoting the awards. They are the
dedicated ones who did the real work, and they deserve ALL the
credit.
I haven't personally spoken to Dawn but I hope she had a nice anniversary
last month and is doing well. To be quite honest, I hardly speak to
anyone these days because I've got more important issues to deal with
off-line. I won't get into detail about that because it's something one of
you may not want to hear. Even though I don't talk as much with email, I
have become a regular at Mikey's TMNT Forum, turning those member's world upside
down with my crazy posts. Still, when I first appeared, they welcomed
me with open arms and blue mangos. lol. This forum is very
awesome with many of the topics focusing on the cartoon
universe. That's what got me started liking the TMNT in 1987. The
members talk about it quite frequently and it keeps me busy with
responses. They also make me laugh a lot, something I hardly do
anymore.
Getting on-topic, I've read all the news for TMNT games and the toys and
the show and feel really glad they're coming back. I am happy because if
it weren't for us, the fans, you would not be seeing all this stuff coming
out. Honestly! I heard Kevin say it himself in person! After
my horrible, tearful encounter with David Prowse, Kevin opened up a mouth
like the sewer and went on and on about how it's the fans that has kept the
Turtles alive and that people should realize we're the ones who make it all
possible. I made up a signature quote at Mikey's Forum with words to that
effect. Can't remember it all now but I do think it's very
true. Another example is from Dawn's beautiful fic, "Legends and
Legacy" where we either hold onto them forever or lose them
in the fragments of time. I know for sure I love the TMNT and the fans who
go with it and I will probably stay that way until the day I die.
Okay, I think I made a few more enemies so I'll stop here for now. If
I suddenly disappear again, I'll wish everyone a Happy Birthday for October
since the month is still new. I'm not mentioning any names because I know
I'll forget someone and then I'll never forgive myself.
Take care for now. I may get quiet but that doesn't mean I left
the list entirely. Think of me as an angel watching over, then go
