As others commented, I also noticed it echoed a good bit from the movie,
especially the bit with Mikey and "Can we keep her?" As well as the
mutual screams and everyone recovering their breath.
But it also followed the comic much closer in the actual telling of the
tale, and I also agree with others that the future tale with Yoshi will
likely be close to the comic, too.
Notice that Shredder does not have the facial scarring he did in the
movie, although I did find that to be an acceptable adaption in the
movie. It worked as another reason Shredder kept his face covered. But
the cartoon is quite clearly different.

I love the way Shredder and the Foot are portrayed much more seriously,
there's a financial and businesslike foundation underneath the ninja
operations, that make it more "believable". This Shredder is not the
dumb original cartoon one, but one worthy of that seen in the original
comics. YES!
I am very much looking forward to the episodes they will be tangling
with him, and wondering how they will handle the Leo solo/issue
11/Return to NY stories.

And I agree I don't miss RS and BP, and see no point to them being in
this cartoon, either.
Though I am getting quite a kick out of the "Peter and Kevin" lookalike
cops. I didn't really expect to see them again, and was pleasantly
surprised. What a great "in joke" or "tribute", though I would not have
expected either of them as cops. LOL!

We also got quite a few good laughs from Raph's dialogue to Mikey,
though we did see the soft spot underneath it come out in that one
moment in the Lab.

And to which job are we referring? :D
