Hey, all,
I think I can safely say I hate this computer down to the circuit board, or
how it's treated me the last couple of days is what makes me hate it.
Everyone knows (I think they do) how much my web site is to me and
when I lose the program that makes it all possible, I want to scream!
Front Page 98 decided not to work anymore. Whenever I would open it
up, the program, Inetsw95, would do an illegal operation and then I'd be
told "Unable to connect to a server at 'default' on port 80 (socket code
10054)." This happened every time, even when my computer was rebooted and
refreshed. I finally decided to save all my web files and reinstall Front
Page 98. But this also included a reinstallation of Internet Explorer and
some new, noticeable changes to Outlook Express. Did you know Compose
changes to Create when you want to make a new email? I'm not composing
anymore. I'm creating! :P
This reinstallation process took even longer due to the fact that any
program has trouble installing when I'm so low on GB's. I ended up
removing several large files, including the new TMNT theme video and
that one GGI clip of Raph fighting those mousers. I also had to uninstall
one of my favorite CD-ROM games but hey, we all make sacrifices. :(
And then, boom! Front Page 98 installed just fine, worked like it's usual
self, and the web files were never erased. They're in a separate folder on
my hard drive and could never be deleted unless I physically do it or had a
major computer crash and lose everything.
But my computer nightmare continued in the early morning while
chatting to Bee. Pull out the tiara. I was discussing a major drama
I was going through with my sister and her, uh, relationship. All I'm
going to say is she's pissing me off, I'm pissing her off, she's pissing him
off, they're pissing each other off...it's just one big piss-fest.
lol. While I was describing as little as I could to Bee without T.M.I., I
turned back on Front Page 98 (while connected to the Internet) and wanted to
start working more on my new TMNT fic. Yes, I'm writing again.
So sue me. Opened Front Page 98, Inetsw95 did an illegal operation again
and the server at 'default' on port 80 could not connect. *siiiigh*
Started pissing and moaning about that to Bee, whom I deeply thank for putting
up with me that night.
Then Amandatello popped up in the midst of my frenzy. I was very
happy to see her and was even more happy to hear she became an updating queen to
her TMNT site. I happened to say, "Well, at least one of us can get to
their web files." Oops, didn't mean it sarcastically, mind
you. I was very glad she was working on it again after being left
untouched for so long. She told me what she was adding and what
she fixed up and I got very excited, but since after being awake
since 7:20am yesterday morning, I got very tired and said I wanted to go to bed
and deal with Front Page in the morning. The much, much, later
morning.
When I signed off, I didn't go to bed right away, but decided to reboot and
see if Front Page would work. Still did the same thing and refused to
work! That's when I got tough. I looked at the name, Inetsw95, and
went to look up the program. I double-clicked on the program and a little
icon called Personal Web Server appeared at the bottom of my screen. I hit
Properties and checked out Services. Lo and behold!!! The status for
both FTP and HTTP said Stopped. I clicked on Start, making both change to
Running. Front Page opened normally and all my files appeared in a quick
flash! Something tells me I didn't have reinstall all along! I
should have just pursue after Inetsw95 and seen what was wrong with it!
But now, I'm not sure how to keep the Start changes permanent because what
happens now is I have to keep going to Personal Web Server to make changes
in order for Front Page to work. It's not like how it used to be where I
open it with no trouble.
THEN, I went to bed. Did I tell you it snowed last night? Not
here, it actually poured rain, but it snowed in my dream! I was snowed in
at my great and uncle's house. I saw the TMNT from the old cartoon and
they were each occupied with something. Mike was staring in the
fridge, looking for frozen pizza, Leo was helping Don (whom wore a full
tool belt and goggles!) fix the thermostat, and Raph sat in the living room
with me and some other family members of mine watching TV. Now, here comes
the weird part. I popped in my TMNT tape of the new show and started to
play it, making Raph stand up and gawk at it. "Hey! What's
this? Who are those guys?!" He called to the others to come in and
see the new cartoon! It was actually funny to see this happening!
The old TMNT watching themselves on the new TMNT! There was one
interesting scene of Mike giving me a hand boost to reach the frozen
pizzas. lol, I think I shrunk several inches or something because the food
in the freezer looked like several feet away from my reach! Too bad it
didn't last long. He was about to get me a winter hat and
gloves because of the long trek into the freezer! I've been begging for a
nice set of winter hat and gloves for many years and many Christmases but
never got them. Then, that portion of the dream ended! Oh,
well.
And oh! I had another waking-up-but-still-asleep incident. I
blinked my eyes open and I saw a crystal chandelier coming straight down!
I vividly saw it's jagged pieces and distorted, shining crystals, and even heard
the jingling sounds, falling closer and closer to my face! I sat up
into it, making it vanish, and started gasping. My sister woke up and
demanded what was wrong. I told her, "The chandelier! It tried to
kill me!" She was like, "What chandelier?" Yeah, really. My
heart was still racing as I stared up at the blank ceiling. I had
something similar to this years ago, back in my old house. I woke up and
saw a huge spider web built above my body. I couldn't sit up because I was
afraid I'd get tangled in it and the spider would bite me. So, I just laid
flattened to the bed, gasping and gaping at this weird sight! Hmmm, spider
webs and chandeliers. Could those things come up due to my
retinas freaking out or something? Whatever the reason, I hate when it
happens!
Okay, I think I'm done for now. Yeah, this is too much blabbering so
I'm done. So, how is everyone else doing?
And Happy Birthday to George Harrison. Hope he has a great
celebration with John Lennon and Gawd. :)
