Outside my bedroom window, trees are just starting to bend into the wind,
but no rain just yet. I'm expecting driving rain in the next couple of
hours--just as Adam comes into Northen Virginia from his Pennsylvania
business trip. Hopefully he'll make it the half-hour back home without
incident from NVA and work.
I'm expecting nothing more than very heavy rains and winds, maybe some minor
power outages, minor damage to trees and things. The entire Metro system has
shut down, however, as has the federal government. Both directly affect my
law firm, which is why I'm home today. The winds will be the biggest
problem. My biggest concern right now is waiting for Adam to come home.
He'll be at least another three hours. After, than after the sun sets, we'll
be hit a little harder with more winds. I'm thinking we'll be all right and
safe for the most part--we've secured the house and yard, and we have
supplies and food and water. Many forecasts are already predicting that
tomorrow, Friday, will fare slightly better: The rain will taper off and the
sun will peek through around noon. Maybe I can go back to work. Don't know
yet. But for as long as we still have our phones working and our Comcast
Digital working--and my laptop has a charged battery--I'll keep you guys
informed.
