I believe that was it. I removed all my directories and started from
scratch. Now both the tmux-1.3 and the CVS HEAD build and run correctly
against: libevent-1.4.14b-stable.
I think there might be an older version of libevent on my system somewhere.
Anyway, everything looks good now, thanks to everyone for taking the time to
help me with this. Sorry for it being a such an avoidable problem.
