No there isn't a way to do it now.

I don't really have an opinion on the best way to do it.

Maybe it would be nicer to have a monitor-activity-command option? Not
sure this would achieve what you want though.

Maybe I should finally get back to the hooks stuff and it would make it
easier to do this.
