You can typically get a suitable xterm entry (assuming you are using xterm) by doing
$ infocmp xterm >x On another box, copying it to your Solaris box and then doing $ tic x Which (for ncurses) will install it in ~/.terminfo. I didn't know you are using GCC 4.6, could be a bug there, or could be you aren't pointing it to the right headers somehow. Never tried 4.6 on Solaris but I know it builds fine with 4.3 or so.
