There is no automatic application, but you can create a custom layout
and apply it (create the layout then copy the description from tmux lsw
and apply it with tmux selectl).

I don't follow... it should be 4x4 if you have 16 windows. What do you

Not really, you can make the session with the first iteration through
the loop. You can't have a window with no panes.

You can set the pane title with the title setting escape sequence
(\033]2;abc\007) and then use #T to see it.
