Our own terminfo entry would not necessarily help because the terminfo db is
part of ncurses not the app. If any platforms are bundling screen-256color with
screen, there is no reason they couldn't bundle it with tmux too already

Thanks for the quick reply. In the process of answering your questions I
figured out what was going on. I had changed TERM from screen-256color
back to xterm-256color because I have a few systems that don't
understand screen-256color. That's what caused the problem with Home and
End. I changed it back and everything is OK.

I've seen similar things happen in the past, too. The solution for me was to
just install screen. Not my preferred method of resolving the issue, but until
tmux gets its own termcap/terminfo I don't see another solution.
