pane_start_path is mentioned in the man page, but I don't see it in the code
anywhere and it certainly prints out nothing. Try it:
tmux display-message -t 0 -p -F "pane_start_path=#{pane_start_path}"
I dug around in the code in an attempt at a quick fix.
I will continue to work to provide a linux compatible patch...
