i usually do these simple passage without installer:
i download tn5250j-0.6.0-bin-full-nosubdir.zip
unzip in mydir/ i usually do it in /usr/local/mydir/
then i make a file in home
vim /myhome/tn5250j

path/java -jar /usr/local/tn5250j/tn5250j.jar

:wq

chmod a+x /myhome/tn5250j

thats all hope can help
