Hello Yuri, This is the Server Session State design pattern discussed in "Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture" by Martin Fowler. This B+Tree looks like it should be excellent for the Server Session State map: http://idlebox.net/2007/stx-btree/ > It also looks like 'sss' itself could be declared with a session > lifetime. Then 'page_no' and the map would not be required. Is this > reasonable? > > Regards, > Yuri Yes for some applications it is fine to have sss declared as a class or struct in a session variable (instead of the pointer). Then it becomes the Client Session State pattern also described in the above book (it is an excellent book).
