Hi Tommi, imho it happens relatively often, that someone tries to install tntnet from source to a system where it is already installed as binary.
Could you create a configure-rule which test the existence of tntnet/cxxtools-files in /usr/lib resp. /usr/bin? So the configure script can alert this problem.
