Should I backup /var/qmail/control before upgrading qmail?
Since qmail upgrade fucks it up? I mean, if I do new qmail install on old server, vpopmail domains stop working? How to restore it?
It's *always* smart to backup before an upgrade. The main things to backup are:
~vpopmail/domains/ /var/qmail/users/ /var/qmail/control/
You may also want to backup:
/var/qmail/bin/ ~vpopmail/bin/
In the event that you choose to downgrade.
The main issue with upgrading to this toaster/patch is that the qmail-smtpd run file needs to be edited so that there is NO "hostname" argument to qmail-smtpd. Check out the new run file for an example, which is in the toaster-scripts-0.6.tar.gz archive.
