Apache uses suexec to run CGI scripts as a user other than nobody. If you use the SuexecUserGroup directive in the VirtualHost section, you can tell apache which user and group to run the cgi scripts as.


Check the docs on the apache site for more info. If you don't use SuexecUserGroup, then I don't think Apache makes use of the suexec program.
