Hi,

our mailserver need a backup-mx-server that filter non
existings-usernames and spam.

Could i copy all /home/mail/domains/ without the mails to the
backup-server to use chkuser-patch there?

Is there any tutorial to setup a backup-mx?

The best way to keep things up to date on the backup server is to run a read only NFS share from the main server to the backup mx for ~vpopmail/domains, /var/qmail/control and /var/qmail/users. That way, the backup server will always have current user, alias, and mailing list information.

If you don't want to do NFS, you might try nightly rsyncs.

What I tend to do is NOT bother with chkuser, but run greylisting on the backup mx. That seems to be pretty effective, and does not require local user infomation, only rcpthosts to be in sync.

Bill
