Is normal to do maintenance tasks when the server is low on usage and you can warn everybody that a reserved time of 2 hours will be needed for maintenance.
I would do the reinstall of the toaster to avoid any slips of an upgrade process instead but that's your decision to make and you know best what is appropriate for your case. That was only a suggestion in my behalf as this is what i would do in your case.
