Very occasionally I get a complaint that an incoming message was not delivered due to 'read error', eg
451 4.4.1 reply: read error from mail.xxxxxxxxxxxx. <aja...@xxxxxxxxxxxx>... Deferred: Connection timed out with mail.xxxxxxxxxxxx. Message could not be delivered for 3 hours Message will be deleted from queue I am unable to tie this in to any log entries in smtpd (presumably because the conversation never got that far) The sender is from aol.com but has no trouble at other times or from other aol servers The server is not under load and has never got anywhere near to max concurrency, either smtpd or send It has happened a few times this year, from various sources Any pointers would be much appreciated.
