Hi Santosh,

Many of us have been on vacation, so I do not think we got back to you on your
questions.

1. You can build any given recipe (custom or otherwise) in the Toaster
interface from the Recipe pages.

You can also do specific recipe tasks, as per Brian Avery’s Toaster email on
Dec 12, 2016:
“The syntax is recipe:task. so you could do something like bash:do_clean if
you wanted to.”

You cannot at this time use Toaster to create a custom recipe since that
requires many individual and custom steps. The best way to do this is to (a)
use the “devtool” to create the custom recipe, (b) fill in the SHA and deploy
details with your editor, start building it with bitbake to find and correct
the errors, and (d) when it is working place it in a custom layer and import it
into Toaster.

2. This again is a very individual and custom process, so we do not at this
time support this from Toaster. The command line is a better place to work out
the kinks.

3. While this is not supported, this seems very interesting to me to do, having
Toaster call “devtool” to deploy to a physical or QEMU-like target.

Perhaps you could create an enhancement request in the Toaster Bugzilla
describing exactly what you are look for. Perhaps you could even join us and
help develop it for all to share!

Subject: [Toaster] Toaster GUI

Hello

I have started using toaster recently and i find it very convincing.

I just want to know if you guys are planning to provide the following features
as well.

1. Provision for creating and building a single custom recipe file(.bb) within
toaster.
2. Provision for creating a custom meta layer or a bsp layer from within
toaster.
3. Provision for deploying the image onto the hardware by using toaster.

thanks in advance,
Santosh.
