JAKARTA, March 20 (Bernama) -- The dispute triggered by Indonesia's claim to part of the Sulawesi Sea located off two Malaysian islands has reportedly caused a cyber war that has so far damaged more than 80 websites in the two countries. The head of Indonesia's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Budi Rahardjo, said at least 48 Malaysian websites and 36 Indonesian websites had been hacked. Budi was quoted by the "Media Indonesia" newspaper which had devoted two pages to a special focus on the cyber war. He said Indonesia's CERT was working with the Malaysian CERT to alert operators of the hacked websites to immediately protect their websites by upgrading their online security. The newspaper published a graphic purportedly of the Universiti Sains Malaysia website that had been defaced by Indonesian hackers who displayed the Indonesian flag and a photograph of former Indonesian president Sukarno on the home page. The hackers wrote the words "Gerakan Ganyang Malaysia" on it and reportedly included a message that belittled Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. The report said the cyber attacks were launched by Indonesian hackers on March 9 against several Malaysian websites, including what was said to be the website of the Office of the Sultan of Perak and the klpages.com website by displaying the phrase "Indonesia bersatu dan jangan ganggu tanahairku" (Indonesia is united and do not disturb our country). Malaysian hackers, said to call themselves "Dedemit Maya Malaysia", then reportedly retaliated by hacking the web server of the Internet Service Provider (ISP), Radnet Surabaya.
