Hello Friends, I am very happy to inform you that I received a call from Murthy garu that he is interested to contribute Rs. 5000 on the occasion of his 16th marriage day on March 6th. He leaves it to our group's decision on how we are going to use that money.
Actually I am occupied with how we can help the very poor family with serious medical problems. Yesterday Pranahitha rang to me and said she wants to know about genuine cases. This morning Murthy garu rang and informed that he will be contributing Rs. 5k. We had a very good discussion on different possibilities of help from Muscat. 1. It seems that people there in Gulf will definitely come forward to help and they can start that with the old dress collection. He knows Kareemullah garu through one of his friends. It seems that it is a very long process for permissions and all and he asked me to send a letter on a registered organization's letterhead so that he can submit that in the Indian Embassy. If we start the process now, we will get the dresses only by Rainy Season, by June. He will be starting the process from today and from his house. They are setting aside the old dresses. 2. He is also trying to form a chapter of our TMAD group there. Many friends and colleagues of him are very much interested to help but they want to make sure that the contributions reach the needy without any misappropriation. They are also observing our group mails and our activities. Hopefully they will join hands with Murthy garu in the coming months. 3. They also kept few old dresses in Vani gari (Murhty gari wife) sister's house. I have her numbers. So we can collect the dresses from there and distribute. What we should do: 1. Let us conduct the old dress drive now. We will distribute those clothes on the second week of April and meanwhile we will collect the old dresses. It is individual's responsibility to wash the clothes, keep them in a good condition (chinna, chinna repairs unte cheyadam) and then iron. 2. It is better that we visit the slums in Hyderabad and get a pulse of what they are, what are the age groups, their necessities etc., Based on my experience, my strict feeling is that, we should not distribute the clothes for the sake of distributing them. We should see that we will give them to the school going children (apart from Uniform, they can use them on general days to school). Sarees and all, we can give. But when it comes to children and men dresses, it is better to give to students who go to colleges. The students in the Orphan Home near Cherlapally are really good and responsible ones. They might be having one or two pairs. There is nothing wrong in helping such people who tries to earn money also by tutoring the kids. They can wear to colleges. I welcome suggestions from other people as well. -- Thank you. with regards, PRASANTHI. ---- When you want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
