This morning I just glanced through Navya of Andhrajyothi and I found
this interesting news. There is a website called 'nottotakedowry.com'
(exact name I didn't remember). Mr. Srinivas Vetsa is the first guy
to register there.

<<to you guys who are unmarried :) >>

I wish and wonder if there is any website as 'nottogivedowry.com' :)
It made me remember the first time when I seriously came to know
about the dowry.

I think it was early in 3rd class or 4th class or even lower class, I
do not exactly remember, we had a lesson called 'Puttadi Bomma
Purnamma' written by Gurajada or Kandukuri? (literature lovers, don't
throw brickbats). Then I came to know about KanyaSulkam.

When I was studying 6th class, we were asked to write an essay on
dowry. My uncle prepared the content for me. When I read it I decided
then and there that I am not going to give dowry if I ever marry.
What a wonder. Girls are always at the receiving end (not receiving
money though) when it comes to marriage. Either it is Kanyasulkam or
Varakatnam, they has to suffer.

Later on I became vexed reading about so many dowry deaths.
Especially when I was in higher classes and in Intermediate and
Degree, every other day there used to be a case of dowry death in
Nellore dt. How come people kill their own family member who trusted
them and left her own family and came to spend life with them and who
yearns to give life to successors of their family!

I remember a heated discussion with one of our members, ofcourse he
is one of my good friends. But we get to know each other after
quarreling to the maximum extent possible :) on the dowry issue.
