Friends,

Anil spoke with his brother-in-law, Dr. Phani Krishna of Narayana Medical
College.

*According to him:*
1. The boy's condition is critical. The boy has problem with the valve.
Since the patient is a boy, they cannot replace the valve, but they have to
repair the valve.

2. If they have to wait for the operation to be done at Nellore only, they
have to wait till April last week or May first week. Means they have to
prepare the child for the operation.

3. It is better if we can approach Narayana Hrudayalaya as they can do the
operation immediately. They have the experience and expertise and equipment
to do the operation immediately, if they choose to.

4. There would be a gap of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000 from Nellore to
Bangalore.

5. There would not be any problem and the boy can travel.

6. There would not be any problem for discharge as well.

I spoke with Raja garu (of SIGHT) who suggested this case to us.

1. He is interested to send the boy to Vijayawada as there would not be any
language problem for the illiterate mother of the child.

2. Dr. Y.V. Rao will do the operation free of cost (we suppose so)

3. He agreed to check the child if we can take the child to Vijayawada.

What I told him is:

1. We need one dynamic person who can be with the child and the mother

2. We can help them financially but we cannot be with them all the days
except weekends.

Anil told that he is willing to spare weekends for this boy. I am sure our
other Bangalore members also will co-operate.

3. It seems that they have a relative in Chennai who worked in Blr earlier
and he can accompany them.

4. The father of the child cannot come as he has to do his daily poojas in
the Ramalayam.

Hopefully by tomorrow we can decide on the following:

1. To take the child to Vijayawada or Bangalore

(Based on doctor's suggestion, Narayana Hrudayalaya is adviceable)

2. The Chennai relative of them can accompany or not.

3. The cost of Ambulance to Vijayawada or Bangalore.

(RAJA garu actually spoke with the 108 Ambulance people. They told him that
if the distance is 25 km to 30 km, they can take free of cost, otherwise we
have to pay)

*Finance part:*

The family do not have any money. Raja garu and others gave Rs. 2000 so far
for the treatment.

We have to take care of the expenses of the travel charges and also the
attendants food and stay requirements.

The estimate is not 4 lakhs but it is only between 70k to 80k. But when we
consider the pre and post operation medication, travel charges,
food/accommodation charges, it would be more.

We hope that we may get some concession from Narayana Hrudayalaya too.

Meanwhile we have to guide them in applying for CM and PM Fund.

Anil also insists to know if we are willing to fund for this case. If we say
so, he will start his work like consulting Narayana Hrudayalaya (if the
family agrees to come to Blr) and also fix appointment for the next weekend
(April 7th) etc.,

I eagerly await your reply. We cannot delay decision as the case is
critical.

Please come up with your opinion. I will also see if we can raise funds
locally too. We have to knock everyone... like-minded groups, local donors,
concession from Narayana Hrudayalaya's Charity etc., I will also talk to
the rural reporter and try to publish this news in Eenadu Helpline.

What I feel is we spend for initial operation and initial charges and
request the local donors to take care of post-operation medication.

YOUR REPLY IS VERY IMPORTANT. PLEASE COME UP WITH YOUR VIEWS. THESE PEOPLE
DO NOT KNOW ANYBODY.

Thank you.

with regards,
PRASANTHI.
