Thanks and Regards Chaitanya *Minutes of Meeting – Hyderabad Monthly Meeting – September 30th 2007 * *Attendees*: Sarath, Murali, Prasanthi, Ravi, SatyaKrishna, Vani, Vishwanath, Kautilya, Ratan, Chaitanya * Topics Discussed 1. Registration of the Group: 1. *We got registered on 22nd of September and the body for this year is* President* – Dr. Sundar, *Secretary* – Ravi Shankar, *Treasurer* – Satya Krishna, *Vice-President* - Chaitanya, *Joint-Secretary* - Vani, *Executive Members*: Karthik, Srinivas, Sarath, Viswanath We have decided to open a bank account on the group name in ICICI bank as it is the most convenient for funds transfer and also has many branches. Sarath, SatyaKrishna and Ravi will do the required paper work for open the account. Cash reciepts / Vouchers on group name will be arranged by Vishwanath. Also the next process of FRCA and Tax Exemption he will start the work and update the team on the same.* 2. HealthCare Activities: * 1. Prasanthi was in touch with Dr.Shanmukhi, Clinical Psychologist NIMS, and the doctor suggested that the doctors in NIMS have many cases which require assistance and they try to give concessions that they can but these cases require additional amount. They have some contacts who would like to donate for such cases but they are looking for an organisation through which they can do. 2. We thought of concentrating on a department of the hospital and through the doctors get to know the cases and sponsor them appropriately. The number of cases will depend on the amount that we can raise for them. 3. Action Item on this would be to internally discuss our plan for the same and if we can promise some amount then we can take Dr.Shanmukhi's help for the remaining amount. So when we can be able to sponsor around 2-3 cases per month we can take this ahead. 4. *Thalessemia Awareness* - we have done some work on the same by conducting camps in some of our members companies, but couldnt take it further. Dr. Suman Jain suggested that if we can sponsor a Social Worker's monthly salary then they would arrange for one and make that person do the awareness at two government hospitals, e.g. Gandhi and Osmania, 3 days in each hospital. The estimated salary for such a person is Rs. 10,000/-. 5. We decided to put in the like minded groups and see the response if we can get around 10 groups sponsoring Rs.1,000/- per month. The payment for 3 months need to be done at a time so that the program continues and it does'nt happen that the social worker doesnt get paid after their month's of work. 6. *Project Niloufer:* No progress has been made till now regarding this. Chaitanya said he will get the details this month and make a report. * 3. Education Activities: * 1. Mehdipatnam school: Srinivas, Veena, Karthik, occasionally Vani have been regularly going there on saturdays and teaching the students.They plan to train 5th class students for the Navodaya Schools entrance exam. 2. There are 15 kids studying in 5th Class, they will take the interested ones and train them. The required study material will be bought by us and using which the kids would be trained. Discussion took place on whether teaching once a week would be enough for these kids, so why not place one person who can regularly teach them on these things. There are teachers from Naandi who get paid about Rs.1,000/- per month so if we can ask naandi to provide one more or can talk to some teacher who stays in the surrounding area and ask them to train the kids. For this Vani would be checking with the kids and also talk to other education team members and give a report on the same and we will take action accordingly. Till then the education team members will start the training. * 4. Like Minded Groups Coordination: * 1. We had one Like Minded Groups meeting last month, and the feedback and participation was good. Further to this we also had a meeting on RTI act. 2. For RTI related activity intersted members can form a team and get trained on how to strategically file RTI and use it effectively.Forthis effort we would be getting guidance from Rakesh of Bhumi organisation. 3. There is a requirement for venue to conduct the meetings on RTI which can accomodate around 100 members. We have some members who are interested to provide their space but most of these cannot accomodate a huge number. And open venues are mostly dependent on weather which might be an hindarance, other private venues cost atleat Rs. 2,000/- per day and most of them charge for the full day even if we use it for a couple of hours. With some contacts of Kautilya's father a community hall was ready to charge Rs.800/- for 3 hours. 4. Dr. Tapadia once offered Prasanthi to use his conference hall except for certain dates, and said that if we can donate that to the Thalessemia society it would be good. So we thought instead of paying to private venues if we can donate the same amount to Thalessemial Society it will serve both the purposes. The contribution might be around Rs.800/- - Rs.1000/- for one meeting. Since this is being done with coordination with other groups as well, if three groups are involved majorly then each group would pay for the meeting in that month.In this manner we would be putting in Rs.1000/- per quarter in this regard.Prasanthiwould be coordinating this effort. Vishwanath would be preparing a document on the process that we have to follow to make the paper work as a registered group easier and organised and will send the same to the group.
