Hi,

I really appreciate this idea of distributing blankets to the needy.
But why can't we think a bit further and help them settle so that they are no
longer dependent on someone to help them in fulfilling the basic needs? Time
being, we have helped them with blankets to protect themselves from cold. But
whatabout their situation during rainy seasons and the severe summers? I do
agree that no one among us are rich so that we can build some house to them and
provide some money on monthly basis. But more than money we have the brain with
which we can find a way to show them some livehood to earn and live on their
own.

Few ideas i can think of to achieve this as of now:

  1) joining them in the orphanages
  2) i guess in orphanages itself they will have some handycraft works to earn
money.
  3) finding a sponsor or donar to bear atleast some amount till they get
settled.
  4) as part of RTI, there might be some programs which will benefit the poor.
We can utilise those here.

At the begining we can start this for one or 2 and depending on the results
we can proceed further.

But i believe this is not impractical. Main concern behind this is to find
the permanent solution to the problem than solving it temporarily.

Please reply back your suggestions and ideas any on this.

  Thank you,
  Lalitha.
