Hello Friends,
Hello Friends, Let us pull the topic of uniting CSR wings of all the companies. Summary: 1. Why to unite CSR wings of the companies? 2. What we can do by uniting them? Two ideas. 3. The probable time of the Meeting 4. When should we start the work? 5. What should we complete by then? 6. What help we need from our members? *For all the new members:* Based on the discussion here and within our limited knowledge, we found that most of the companies start it with some interest and slowly the enthusiasm dies down. They do it for doing sake, identify any orphange or home and give money or other requirements. Our point is that to provide the general requirements to orphanages and other such homes may be in the reach of individuals or small groups. CSR Wings are big in size and they are capable of rising lakhs of rupees with one e-mail or so. (I suppose). If we can unite all the CSR wings of the companies and convince them to generate money for some bigger cause, how good it would be. *This is the idea:* 1. Let us assume the CSR wings collectively create a bank account.(or else each company can have their own account for CSR purpose) 2. Deposit whatever amount they can contribute every month in that account. (Must have an exact estimate of the minimum amount that can be contributed every month. Say for example Twenty Thousand a month) 3. If 5 companies come forward to take up the bigger cause, and each company has the minimum of 20,000 a month. Collectively it would be one lakh rupees a month. Coming to the bigger cause: *1st Option: Sponsoring Surgeries* There is a large database of poor children who are in need of heart surgeries, kidney problems and blood cancer. Despite govt. giving funds, there is a lot of gap in the supply and demand. We can enter into an agreement with NIMS that we will support the operations of one particular wing, say Cardiology, Nephrology etc., and sponsor five operations a month. I discussed with a doctor in NIMS. She told me that they know lot of cases who cannot afford the remaining amount despite getting CM and PM Fund. We helped a case and we had to give Rs. 20k for surgery alone (that to when NIMS gave concession). So we can enter into an agreement saying that at an average expense of 20k for a heart operation, (remaining amount NIMS or any hospital has to waiver) and we can sponsor 5 operations a month. This makes a huge difference. If we make it a practise to collect the amount once in a quarter or six months and deposit in our account, we get the interest and with this interest, we can sponsor post operation medication or studies of few children. The doctor with whom I spoke told that there are lot of friends in US who are interested to contribute provided there is a legitimate channel. As doctors working in the hospital they cannot do in their name. If we can work on the base idea and work out the logistics and technicalities, this would be a better options. We can see that no child has to wait for surgery for lack of money. I know that CA has given around 2 to 3 lakhs to Little Hearts Foundation in 2005. *2nd Option: Providing Infrastructure in a hospital.* Which we know and this is about Niloufer Hospital. Thank you. with regards, Prasanthi.
