1. I gave Rs. 450 to Sri UVNK Raju for Sairam's medicines for the post- operation medication. (We had to give it long back but as we couldn't meet, I haven't given so far) 2. I already posted an update about my meeting with Prof. Rahul Bhimjiani in Hyd_Unplug group as our topic of discussion is Batti Bandh. 3. The evening meeting was a very fruitful and encouraging one. The following is the MOM written by Srinivas Kulkarni. =================================== Hello Friends, Minutes of the Meeting Chaired by: Prasanthi and Attended by: Fayaz Basha, Dr. Hemanth, Sravan, Dev and Preeti and Srinivas Kulkarni Meeting started with a self introduction of the members present. It was the first time many a members attended the meeting organized by Prasanthi to discuss how each one of us can contribute towards social causes as a group which were otherwise being pursued individually. After spending few minutes on personal introduction, Prasanthi shared an idea about her efforts as the founder of TMAD (To make a difference) along with the other similar groups of people. She had sited few examples of how she and the associated groups have helped various people in achieving certain social objectives, small and big. Here she mentioned about how the awareness about RTI (Right to Information) was being spread to public by concerted efforts of Rakesh. Also Prasanthi shared how her efforts to reach out to various active and dormant members of her group have helped cases of surgeries in cities like Bangalore and Chennai and how it raised curiosity of certain similar organizations in her activities. Soon after a quick round of introductions and Prasanthi's talk the discussion turned into sharing each ones experiences of how they contributed to social welfare in their own way. Preethi who works with a Homeopathy Clinic as a PRO shared how she goes around some orphanages and helps the residents there. She also brought the notice of the organizer about few people who may need the help from TMAD. Her narration filled the room with compassion and deep sense of social responsibility. Dr. Hemanth, a student of medicine related his initiatives in adding to Prasanthi's efforts by forwarding certain links of news clippings about people requiring help which could be hosted online and be brought to the notice of possible helping hands. Sravan working with Sum Total expressed that he wishes to contribute to the group's objectives by creating and maintaining website and uploading important files on the site. He also extended financial assistance if need arises in creating any such websites and maintenance. Srinivas, one of the attendees had queries about how TMAD group's efforts would make the needy self sufficient (financially) and wanted to explore any such possibility which could generate employment to the target section of the society. He further raised questions on how each member could be motivated to associate their personal goals with such social welfare groups. The members present discussed about different areas like Education and Health which are the basic needs, where each one could contribute. Also, the other areas discussed to be focused were helping the mentally and physically challenged, orphanages and old age homes. Prasanthi concluded the meeting by summarizing that coming together to contribute towards social needs is beginning and that there is a long way to go before we decide on specific areas and that she created this platform where it still is in the beginning stage. She expressed her openness to any new ideas and schools of thought which could add to the overall objective of social responsibility. She requested every member to draft an email mentioning how they could take up one action area and contribute towards its success. =================================== Yesterday Dr. Bala Sreenivas and Maruti couldn't attend and also as all the members that we met are new most of the time was spent explaining about BOSF.
