Saving the Earth by the Hour
On April 18, 2008 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Global warming. It's here. It's been here for a while. And it's
already wreaking havoc.
In our homes. In our cities. And we've caused it.
Electricity. Transport. Home waste. Plastic bags and bottles.
Factories, industrialization.
According to Al Gore's docu-presentation - An Inconvenient Truth, we've got
8 years till the effects of global warming and the harm we're doing to the
world can be reversed. 8 years. That's within our life times.
And *You *can make a difference.
We all know the answers - save electricity, don't use plastic, walk when you
can or then public transport. Use car pools, energy saving bulbs (hey,
they're only going to reduce *your* electricity bill!), don't turn on the
tap the whole time you're brushing... You know all this, now ACT upon it.
A few of us in Hyderabad are getting together as many people as possible, to
spread awareness about global warming.
And we have one goal – Unplug!
On April 18th 2008, we intend getting most of Hyderabad to unplug – TV sets,
fridges, microwaves. Fans off. Lights out. For one hour, from 7:30 pm to
8:30 pm.
*This simple action can cut down on our annual energy production greenhouse
gas emission to drastic effect. It's time to take a stand, to defend our
planet, our only home. Spread the word. *
Wherever you may be – Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai… and would like to
support or join us, you can contact us on the numbers listed below. And if
you start spreading awareness and trying to make a change - however small it
may seem - it would go a long way, and the earth would be thankful.
*Spread the Word. Make a difference. Unplug! *

We aren't part of any organization and choose to be a nameless faceless set
of people. We do not have any sponsors and neither are we looking for
financial support of any kind. This is not an event that is exclusively for
one media house or organization to promote. It's a thought, an understanding
that needs to be instilled in the masses. Your support will not only set an
example but will make a statement to the world. We may be rising and shining
as a nation but what good will it be if we won't be able to enjoy this new
found zest for growth ten years from now. We are a nation of people who work
towards securing a brighter future for our children and generations to come,
secure the earth for them first. They need to see the beautiful mountains
and beaches, rivers and valleys, sunset and sunrises that you have had the
privilege to witness. All we need is your support in whichever way possible.
Whether its just printing t-shirts, or sending people to schools, colleges
or societies talking about global warming or donating a hoarding or an
advertisement or air-time for public service announcements about global
warming and the event or just plain switching off your lights on April 18th
between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Come aboard and join the revolution. Make a
statement. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
Looking forward to your support.
Unplug.
*Any additional support will help take this message a long way.
