Hai, I dont think CHIME supports all the cases. Last week pavan mailed me the details of a kid being treated in MIOT hospitals, chennai. The hospital gave them a bill of 2.5 lakhs and then gave a discount of 50000 rupees.SO the kid's parents are very poor had to pay 2 lakhs of rupees. For which some frds of pavan started collecting funds. pavan asked me to enquire if at all MIOT collects money frm kids(if parents are poor) and is it true that they need to collect 2 lakh of rupees.
I browsed through the net and found out that, its a seaparate trust fromed by MIOT and they help very few that come to theh hospital. In a year they only supported 23 surgeries their website says. Surely some thousands of cases would come to MIOT in a year. In that 23 is a very meagre number. Now, I also get a doubt if all the 23 are completely free are not. Because when pavan enquired his friends about this, He was told that MIOT can only subsidize 50000, which is doctor's fee and other expenses need to born by the parents. But when I googled abt CHIME and MIOT I got hundreds of links frm bloggers to news papers sites, saying that all poor kids will be treated free and now no problem for the kids in India. A tall claim indeed!!! I felt very bad..may be MIOT got lot of publicity and they are doing little for tax exemptions.....I am not very sure but this is the doubt that has arisen in my mind...... satya sai institute, puttaparthi, I heard is completely free, but getting timely appointment is quite difficult. The organisations prasanthi mentioned are better I guess. But anyways I will find out in MIOT hospital when I go there next time how they give subsidies and on what basis and what % of the total bill. Sorry if I have deviated the topic...But I wanted to write this from long so that some one might correct me if I am wrong in my thoughts....May be some thing is better than nothing. At least 23 operations is better than zero operations. Next year their target is 300 free operations it seems. But they are asking for donations for the same!!!!
