Hello Friends,

There has been a very good breakthrough with respect to our
activities.

Every group has the problem of the volunteers who work on field.
There
are some active volunteers in each group and they reside in different
areas in the city. If volunteers of all groups who reside in
particular colony can form a forum and work for the local causes and
all the issues that concern us that would be great. They have to work
with the existing groups if any like Colony Associations.

Also it would be difficult for the volunteers of particular group to
attend a meeting at particular location. So instead of all the
members
meeting at one particular place if we have local clubs for each
colony, that saves a lot of time for the volunteers. With this
concept
Manavata group started local club in Srinagar Colony and Vijaya Nagar
Colony. They invited me for the Srinagar Colony meeting and I felt
very happy for meeting them. All of them think like us only. We
shared
our ideas and the problems. We decided to start working seriously in
Srinagar Colony and near by areas.

I request every one of the group to think on this concept and please
share your place of residence so that if there are at least 10
members
from each locality we can form a club. Name is not a botherance but I
prefer Birds of same feathers as this name best describes the nature
of the club. We will mention all the groups whose members are part of
the particular area club.

For Srinagar Colony we decided the following:

1. Aravind, who is a sr. project manager in Infosys and President of
Manavata Hyderabad Chapter, a resident of Srinagar Colony, collected
the contact details of the board members of near by colony
associations.

2. We will be meeting them the coming saturday (we ask for their
appointment on Saturday).

3. Our strategy is first to listen to their activities and plans and
then put forward our proposal.

4. What is our proposal?

---- Taking care of the parks in the vicinity

---- Prepare a ten to fifteen point pamphlet about eco-friendly
practises.
(We will organize a Mela one day and provide all the tools at 10%
discount on that day so that people need not have go to different
places to buy them. We have to talk with the shop owners and other
concerned suppliers)

---- We will organize sessions once in a month. Each month on an
important topic that is of direct use to them.

----When we organize a session on RTI, we will ask the people to come
with their problems and what are all the questions they have that
they
want information from the govt. We will help people in framing the
RTI
application and will explain them the address, timings and other
details of filing them.

5. Ex/Sample of a 10/15 point Eco-Friendly Plan

-- Use Copper Tumblers and Utensils for cooking and for drinking
water

---Use cloth bags instead of paper bags or plastic

---Use CFL Bulbs

---Keep at least 5 plants in ur home

---Save Power by using only when necessary. We often tend to forget
to
remove the plugs though we switch off power.

---Do not mix all the waste but segregate the waste and use different
dust bins and work on solid waste management

---Collect the Newspapers from each household and give it to any
orphanage.

6. When we organize the mela, we will keep it a day long one and we
have all these products on a discount rate. If this is a success we
can organize this mela once in three months or so depending on the
need.

7. Talk to road side vendors and provide support for the education of
their children and give the used dresses to them.

8. Form a old citizen category, youth and women categories (as the
numbers increase) in the club and do activities that provide solace
to
the people. Laughing Activity would be a great idea.

I request all the members of BoSF group to announce their place of
stay so that we can find out the areas and also the number of
members.

I personally feel that for any initiative to be a success it should
reach out to people and colony clubs are the best means to achieve
that objective.

This is the response so far in BoSF:
