Main Theme: OUR ROLE IN THE ELECTIONS :

TOWARDS POLLUTION FREE AND DISPLACEMENT FREE

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

 Dear Friends,

A severe crisis is facing the state and nation today. The
prices of essential commodities (especially food items, cement and
steel) have sky rocketed. The poor and middle classes are by and
large
very disturbed. To pacify them the ruling congress government has
been
announcing a series of populist welfare measures like waiver of out
standing agricultural loans in banks and societies, along with the
free power for agriculture, irrigating one crore acres under "Jala
Yajnam", Rice at Rs. 2/- per kg. for BPL families, housing and
pensions for aged, land distribution for the poor etc.

While the ruling party continues to announce a series of
welfare measures, the TRS is campaigning for a separate Telangana
state seriously. The TDP is concentrating on corruption in the state
and rising prices. Lok Satta has been focusing on decentralization,
good governance and prohibition. Chiranjeevi is still in a wait and
watch mood while the left parties have been raising the issue
of 'land
reforms'.

The problem of displacement of people under various
"development" schemes is growing rapidly day by day through out the
state and country. Migrations and suicides by farmers, artisans and
other / rural people are continuing at an increased pace! In such a
situation, how can we play an effective role towards raising critical
issues for building a pollution and displacement free society. More
specifically, what sort of effective role can we play in the
elections? On what issues do we concentrate? By we, we mean those
individuals and organizations who believe in and / or fighting for
alternate / sustainable solutions for the evils plaguing out society.

Towards this end NAPM, AP chapter is organizing a two day
workshop at the state level as part of its state level convention on
10-11 May, 2008 at OXFORD GRAMER SCHOOL, Street No: 1, Near TajMahal
Hotel, Himanat Nagar, Hyderabad. As a responsible citizen/
organization we request you to positively attend the two day workshop
and give your valuable suggestions and proposed role in this
challenging Endeavour.

Yours Sincerely,

B.Ramakrishna Raju, A.P.State Convener, 9866887299
