*Light a Life this Diwali.....*
Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrates the victory of good over evil,
and light over darkness. As you are aware, MOHAN
Foundation,<http://www.mohanfoundation.org/>established in 1997 in
Chennai and in Hyderabad in 2002, has played a
catalytic role in lighting the lives of over 1000 patients suffering with
end-stage organ failure. Men, women and children who have suffered the agony
of organ failure, are able to lead a life of improved quality. The grit,
courage and generosity of our organ donor families from all walks of life,
rich and poor, have not only brought back a glow into the of lives of these
patients, but of their families as well.
At MOHAN Foundation, <http://www.mohanfoundation.org/> we have made over
2000 presentations to a cross-section of our population, participated in
hundreds of exhibitions, and networked with hundreds of NGOs in spreading
the message of organ donation. We were part of the team that liaised with
the Government in amending the rules of the Transplantation of Human Organs
Act in Tamil Nadu, a step that has led to an increase in the number of organ
donations.
In Hyderabad, we had our 76th organ donor on Vijayadasami day. Very soon, we
will have offices in Vizag and Coimbatore. We have been extremely lucky in
having committed volunteers, well-wishers and strong supporters like you.
On the eve of this Diwali, we would like to offer you the opportunity to
become our “Monthly Supporter”. This would entail a donation of a fixed sum
of money every month, based on what you wish to give. You may wish to apply
your donation towards a specific project or purpose. Our current needs are
related mainly to advocacy and awareness creation among the general public,
and every little bit that comes our way makes a big difference. For
instance, our move to distribute donor cards among those who pledge to
donate organs has been a major means of getting a commitment to the
movement. We have distributed more than 5 lakh Donor Cards across the
country, and your contribution could be used for the purpose of printing and
distributing such materials.
You may assign a certain amount every month, indicate what you wish to
support, and just send us postdated cheques for the next twelve months.
