Subject: [tomakeadifference] About eco-friendly stoves

Friends,

Greetings.

Please go through the details of the Eco-friendly stoves from Saibhaskar garu.
I am happy to inform you that he is our member now. He joined our group.

It is possible to train the village youth in the preparation of these stoves so
that they can use it as a livelihood opportunity. One week is enough to train.
What we need is interested members (youth, women etc.,) and a big place with
power and other facilities.

If we can order for 500 stoves, each MAGH stove would cost Rs. 500. If we
cannot afford, we can go with the portable stoves (which would cost less than
Rs. 100 each) now and then we can try to facilitate the training, either
through government support or the help of any other NGOs.

Pl. respond with your thoughts.

Dear Prasanthi,

It it nice to know the group and your activities. Your group has taken up a
great cause and thinking about stoves. We do require 120 million good stoves in
India alone. The indoor air pollution is the cause of 5 lakhs people killed
every year in India and 16 lakhs globally.

Yes, we can facilitate Good Stoves. I have designed 30 Good Stoves which are
highly efficient and low cost http://www.goodstov e.com . I am the founder and
CEO of Geoecology Energy Organisation (GEO) http://www.e- geo.org - an
initiative to mitigate climate change through adaptation.

I am well conversant with the people and geography of Mahabubnagar District,
about 300 stoves designed by me have been adopted by communities in parts of
Mahabubnagar District, including Chenchu tribals in Nallamalai forest area.
Yes, we can facilitate 500 nos of  Good Stove Portable within a week, which can
be constructed in the field and involving the local community. They can be
constructed elsewhere but, transportation is additional cost.

All the designs are declared as "Open Knowledge" for the common good. If your
group has a team, I can train and help them in construction of these stoves too.

As a long term initiative, I would suggest to adopt Magh series stoves. The
recent floods are also due to climate change and global warming. The highly
efficient Good Stoves like Magh series which are TLUD / gasifier technology,
reduce the CO2 emissions and also conserve the biomass. The biochar produced
can be used for improving the fertility of the soils http://www.biochari
ndia.com . I am presently leading a project in Jangaon, AP "Good Stoves and
Biochar Communities" Magh CM is the stove being facilitated to the community at
Jangaon, they cost more than the Good Stove Portable, but highly efficient. The
production and dissemination takes at least 2 weeks. We can discuss about the
logistics and plans and could meet during your visit on 15th.

With best regards,

Dr. N. Sai Bhaskar Reddy
