We (Srinivasa Reddy and me from HEARTS) have gone to DESIRE Society in IDA, Bolarum (about 7 km from Miyapur X Roads) on 14.04.2010. There were 44 children (most of them small and HIV affected ) badly needing our intervention. The Founder Chairman is Mr G. Ravi Babu who was a businessman and presently a full timer in DESIRE. There is one program manager, one paediatrician Dr Sunil, officer inchage Dr Neelima, 4 Ayaas (a couple of them mothers of these children), nurse etc. They provide accommodation, food, clothing, medicines and education to all the children. Also they conduct health camps in the areas to identify and provide medical kits to needy patients. Presently it is located in rented building paying around Rs.6000-7000 with about 10 small rooms. DESIRE is also allotted land for locating a home for the patients (children) of 1500 sq.yards and are constructing a home which is in foundation stage. Its budget is Rs.92 lakhs. We have made a token contribution of Rs.3000 to cater to expenses of one child for one month. We have also offered our technical contribution for the energy, water efficiency and other features of the building. We will discuss in our next meeting regarding how best we can serve these poor, unfortunate, neglected children. Best regards G.K.
