http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3604 Summary: /etc/rc.d scripts and stop command Product: Tomcat 3 Version: 3.3 Beta 2 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: Other Component: Unknown AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, There is no check if the stop command of the /etc/rc.d scripts ended sucessfully. Indeed, they will write a big green « Ok » even if no tomcat was stopped, for example when no tomcat was running on the system. Moreover they will write a big green « Ok » and end even if tomcat shutdown was not sucessfull and/or not finished. This is a pain, since the user has to check by hand every time if the stop was actually sucessfull, and using the restart command is dangerous since there is always the risk the new tomcat instance will clash with the old one because it is still being shut down (I've seen this *many* times) Please straighten this up:(
