Amongst other things the log changes can be critical to analysing logs if serving multiple hosts from a single installation. I have marked bug 11075 as a duplicate of this bug, if you follow the 11075 track you will find at least 2 other patches dealing with the specific %{xxx}i implementation issue. It may be worth considering merging in the switch based (rather than if based) solution of my previous patch if this results in the code being compiled as tableswitch bytecode - with constant lookup time.
