I added traces in CustomObjectInputStream, and while there's a (normal) CNFE for [Ltest$EKey;, it loads correctly test$EKey. The behavior is in every way identical between TC 4.1.x and 5.0.x (at least for what I could see), and yet I couldn't reproduce the bug with Tomcat 4.1.x.
