The admin application needlessly sets the maximum size of the username and password fields to 16 characters. It is VERY easy to run into a problem with some Realm types (like JNDI, if you are using fully-qualified LDAP names). I know a password of 16 characters is a bit pathological, but the limit is arbitrary and needless.
