JNDI Datasource HOWTO instructions incorrect - Name jdbc is not bound in this Context

------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-15 16:35 -------
Success at last.

Turns out the HOWTO documentation is incomplete and incorrect.

- The HOWTO claims that the <resource> section should go under the context. This
does not work - a Google search has revealed a number of people with this
problem, and there is at least one bug report open.

The correct place (as in "the place where it works") to put <resources> is in
the <GlobalNamingResources> section, which goes under <Server>.

A further problem with the HOWTO is consistency with regards to datasource
naming. Under the postgres section, the datasource is first named
"jdbc/postgres", then it is named "jdbc/mydb" under web.xml. This is confusing
to first time users.

In order to get Realms to work, the realm must refer to the datasource as
defined in the <globalnamingresources> section, not a datasource as renamed
using <resourcelink>. This is not made clear in the HOWTO.
