Thanks for committing the changes to DefaultServlet. So the only problem left is the missing "Accept-Ranges: bytes" header. The spec says that the server MAY send this header, but at least Acrobat needs it.
I know how to use a filter. In fact this way I tested this here. BTW, for us the PDF capabilities of the Default Servlet are totally unimportant, because he have to use our own servlet anyway. I just thought Tomcat should out-of-the-box-support Acrobat.
