I was concerned at the additional management overhead such a move would place on us, particularly the PMC chair, and the impact this might have in terms of reduced time for actual development. However, after actually reading what is involved and comparing it to what we have to do now for the Jakarta PMC the change is far less than I had imagined.
I believe that the benefits, particularly in terms of greater visbility and clearer branding, more than outweigh the costs.

I think we're ready to move Tomcat to a TLP. There's a lot of support for it in the general Jakarta and ASF ranks. Before we write and vote on a proposal, I wanted to see informally what the opinions are within our own group about this potential move. I'm obviously +1.
