Queries about viability on using Tomcat

Hi

I've seen jserv mentioned in a lot of places but I am 'thinking' I want to
move to using tomcat with Apache instead. (I'm analyzing the data to
determine if it's appropriate for me)

Is tomcat a replacement for jserv? Is it considered 'commercial quality'?
(I'll test it for load/stress in addition to replies from this question) Or,
is Tomcat to be used in conjunction with jserv.
