One common mistake known to cause problems is havingI do call super.init(). Does anyone think it might not be working for me because I am using the ROOT context for this application? That context is a bit unique in that it doesn't have a subdirectory and it has its own special folder. I know it should work anyway, but perhaps this is a bug that was overlooked in Tomcat. (But then, it seems so obvious that it should work, I can't just be discovering it now.)
an init method that fails to call super.init().
