context port mapping?

I appologize I should have mentioned that I'm using IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000 with the isapi_redirect.  Also by replacing localhost with my machine name works as well with the example provided with tomcat.

By adding the port number got it to work, but why is it that the examples work fine without it?
