compiling mod_jk with -pthread

Hi all again,

how do we compile mod_jk with the -pthread option?
I tried having it in the CFLAGS and CC environment but that is ignored.
I also tried including it in the apxs cmd line but it gives out errors.
So what is the right way to do this?
