Tomcat 3.x (in CVS now  it wil be 3.3 soon a Milestone will be dropped
in a few weeks ) and Tomcat 4.0 have this posibility you can add
requestInterceptors ( Realms in Tomcat 4.0 ) in a perContext basis.
