Public class xyz.class must be defined in a file xyz.java

     Has anyone else had this error when trying to use jars, I tried 
     putting the jar in TOMCAT_HOME/lib and webapps/xyz/lib, same error.
     
     Its not as if everything fails, part of the app works, I suspect its 
     some RMI calls that I'm making that fail.
     
     Everything works if I unzip the jar into webapps/xys/classes.
     
     Using Redhat 6.1, Tomcat 3.2.1, JSDK 1.3 from Sun
