Howdy,
Don't say your server is running perfectly if you haven't looked at its
logs.  Had you looked at the logs, you'd see digester complaining of
your bad web.xml, which has servlet and servlet-mapping elements mixed
in violation of the 2.3 servlet DTD.

So no, not strange at all -- a FAQ, in fact.
