Writting to tomcat logs

Is it possible to write to Tomcat logs files (without using the 
servlet's log method)?

What I want to perform, is to create a java.util.logger.LogHanddler, 
that will log to the tomcat log files. I have implemented this handler 
for WebLogic, JRun, Orion, etc, but i cannot find an elegant way to 
do-it with Tomcat.
