Thanks for the timely response.. I've been scratching my head over this for
the past day and a half thinking I am just not getting this right. Are there
any other active gotcha's I need to watch out for? I am using this for
testing and some "getting my feet wet" work in JSP 2.0.

There are no known issues right now in 5.0.11.

By the way, is there any further documentation on the JK2 interface for IIS?

Not at the moment. The native connectors are released as a separate project, since they are so diverse, so there's separate documentation.

I am curious to see if there have been any improvements in speed or
manageability since Tomcat 4 was updated.

The Catalina pipeline has been optimized, which benefits both JK and HTTP/1.1. The connectors themselves didn't need any additional optimization over 4.1.x. There have been additional performance optimizations in various places (optional thread local thread pools, static resource serving, request dispatcher).

Monitoring features and runtime statistics have been added (see the manager webapp).
